Iranian FM visits the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and meets with professors and students

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi who traveled to Moscow for an official visit to Russia attended the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) on Wednesday morning and met with President of the institute Mr. Anatoly Torkunov and with the heads of its various departments.

During the meeting, Araghchi referred to the strong political and economic relations between Iran and Russia and underscored the importance of leveraging this foundation to strengthen cooperation and exchanges in scientific, cultural, and academic fields.

 

The top diplomat described the teaching of the Persian language as one of the institute’s outstanding capacities, voicing hope that, through expanded interactions between this institute and universities and scientific and research centers in Iran, including the Faculty of International Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, scientific and cultural ties between the two nations would be further deepened.

 

The president of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations for his part expressed pleasure at the institute’s history of specialized teaching in Persian language and Iran-related studies. Torkunov  further referred to the extensive existing collaborations and connections between the institute and Iranian universities and announced that the institute is ready to expand exchanges with Iranian academic and research circles.

 

Following this meeting, Araghchi addressed the students of MGIMO, explaining Iran’s views about international developments. He also fielded questions regarding Iran-Russia bilateral relations and international trends.
