Consultative meeting between Irans Foreign Ministry spokesman and heads of Iran’s friendship associations with other countries
On Monday afternoon a consultative meeting was held between Irans Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei who is also head of the Public Diplomacy Center of the Foreign Ministry and heads of Iran’s friendship associations with other countries at the Abbasabad Cultural and Tourism Complex.

The meeting was hosted by the Deputy for International Affairs of the Abbasabad Cultural and Tourism Complex and attended by the Foreign Ministry's Acting Deputy for Social Participation Mohammad Sadegh Karimi Kia. Baqaei referred to the key role of the active and effective role of friendship associations in preserving and strengthening relations with other countries. He underlined the necessity of recognizing the valuable capacities of this civil society institution and making use of them to advance the country’s public and cultural diplomacy.
He also said the Foreign Ministry is ready to assist in facilitating the activities of friendship associations.
At the meeting, a number of heads and members of friendship associations, including the Iran–Tajikistan, Iran–Germany, Iran–Belgium, Iran–Malaysia, Iran–United Arab Emirates, Iran–Hungary, Iran–Oman, Iran–India, Iran–Uzbekistan, Iran–Kazakhstan, Iran–France, Iran–Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Iran–Kuwait friendship associations, presented their views and proposals on making optimal use of the capacities of friendship associations to strengthen people-to-people relations and to advance the objectives of the country’s public diplomacy.
