David Harland CEO of the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue, along with three senior executives of the organization, on Monday morning met with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Muscat Forum.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on international trends and developments, particularly the challenges and threats to international peace and security in light of blatant violations of international law and the principles of the UN Charter.
The Iranian foreign minister spoke about the turbulent conditions in the world, including the West Asia region, caused by the aggressive unilateralism of the US and the ongoing aggression and crimes by the Zionist regime against regional nations. He said countering these trends requires responsibility and effective action by all governments and the international civil society to safeguard the achievements of human civilization and protect peace and the rule of law.
David Harland also shared his perspectives on the importance of strengthening diplomacy as the only effective tool for promoting peace and resolving disputes.
This year’s Muscat Forum, with the theme of strengthening mediation institutions and diplomacy, is being held in cooperation with the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue (based in Geneva), the Foreign Ministries of Oman, and Norway.
