Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who has traveled to Damascus to consult with Syrian government officials over bilateral relations and regional developments, met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at noon on Saturday.

In the meeting, Araghchi extended warm greetings from the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution and president to Bashar al-Assad, and outlined the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the developments in the region.

While reaffirming Iran’s continued full support for Syria and the resistance to confront the occupation and warmongering of the Zionist regime, Araghchi said this principled policy is aimed at protecting peace and stability in the region and supporting the national security of regional countries.

The Syrian president for his part conveyed his warm greetings to the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution and the president and appreciated Tehran’s support and its responsible and robust policy of defending the oppressed people of Palestine and effectively supporting the principle of self-determination and the right to self-defense.
He praised the resistance against the occupation and aggression of the Zionist enemy, stressing the importance of an all-out international effort to end the criminal adventures of the occupying regime.

Assad also described the Iranian foreign minister’s visit to the region at the same time as the Nasr sermon and only a few days after the legitimate and courageous missile attack by the Iranian armed forces against military targets of the aggressor regime as very meaningful.
He said Araghchi’s regional tour projected strength and showed the Islamic Republic of Iran is doubling down in the face of illegal threats and murderous activities by the Zionist regime that is worthy of praise.
