Aide to Azeri president meets Iran’s FM

Hekmat Hajiev, an aide to Azerbaijan’s president on Sunday morning met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. In the meeting, Hajiev underlined the Azeri president’s determination to expand ties between the two brotherly neighbors in all spheres based on mutual respect and trust.
He also referred to the recent visits by the two countries’ officials and the holding of the Tehran-Baku joint economic commission, saying the two states have a huge potential to boost their ties and “we hope that their current bilateral and multilateral cooperation will expand more than ever before”.
The Iranian foreign minister for his part pointed to the numerous commonalities and deep historical, cultural, religious and family bonds between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. He stressed Iran’s policy of good neighborliness and its resolve to expand ties with neighbors as well as President Masoud Pezeshkian’s support for deepening relations with Baku.
Araghchi expressed hope that ties between the two countries will expand more than ever before based on mutual respect and trust.
He stressed the importance of developments in the Caucasus region and their impact on the stability, security, and development of regional countries.
Araghchi reiterated the principled approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its policy of continuing to support the will of regional nations to resolve issues through negotiation, utilizing regional capacities, and avoiding destructive interventions from extraregional states.
He also declared Iran’s readiness to continue assistance to this end.
