Iranian diplomat stresses on need to restore lasting peace in Caucasus

The Iranian diplomat also stressed on the need to take into consideration the legitimate concerns and interests of all countries in the region.

 

The Iranian foreign minister’s assistant and director general of Eurasia Directorate, in a meeting with Russia’s Ambassador in Tehran, said respect for national sovereignty, territorial integrity and mutual interests of countries are the guarantor of sustainable peace and can serve as the foundation for regional cooperation in the Caucasus.

 

During the meeting, the Iranian ifficial shared his views on the ongoing developments in the Caucasus. He also highlighted Iran’s stance on supporting the restoration of peace and stability in the region, and helping to boost cooperation between the regional countries, adding Tegran is against any change in the internationally recognized borders and geopolitical changes in the region.

 

The Iranian diplomat also stressed on the need to take into consideration the legitimate concerns and interests of all countries in the region.

 

Meanwhile, both sides underscored that the regional countries’ capacity should be used to resolve the issues and help consolidate peace and stability in the region and implement economic plans, bearing in mind the interests of all parties.

 

They also discussed the upcoming meeting of the consultative 3+3 mechanism as well as a meeting by the Iranian, Russian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers.
