Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with Ismail Haniyeh, the header of the political bureau of Hamas, and several other leaders of the movement in the Qatari capital, Doha, late Saturday.
In the meeting, the latest developments in Palestine and Gaza were discussed.
The Iranian foreign minister noted that the issue of Palestine remains the most important issue of the Muslim world like before.
“Supporting Palestine is a religious, humanitarian and moral duty, and today, all Muslims, the faithful and freedom-loving people should stand by Palestine and its oppressed people more than ever,” he said.
The top Iranian diplomat expressed congratulations on the gains achieved by Palestinians’ resistance, adding, “The extent of Zionists’ war crimes against the people of Gaza is great because the blow they have received from the Palestinian nation has been unprecedented.,”
He touched upon Iran’s efforts in regional and international consultations to put an end to the Israeli regime’s brutal attacks against the defenseless people of Gaza, adding, “During these days, in line with supporting the people of Gaza against Israeli war crimes, we proposed an extraordinary foreign ministerial meeting of Islamic countries be held, and will press ahead with our efforts and back any initiative by Muslim states aimed at supporting the Palestinian nation.”
Amirabdollahian further touched upon the Palestinian nation’s spontaneous move to orchestrate and conduct the the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, adding, “According to many experts, Al-Aqsa Flood operation showed that Palestine is alive contrary to what some people wrongly believed, and that the trend of normalization of ties [with Israel] by some countries cannot sap the Palestinian nation’s iron will to seek the restoration of their natural, human and legal rights.”
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran will never forswear its principles and values in supporting the Palestinian nation.
“The Al-Aqsa operation was the Palestinian nation’s natural reaction to the relentless crimes and provocative moves by the extremist government of Netanyahu, especially Zionists’ repeated acts of aggression against the Al-Aqsa Mosque,” said Amirabdollahian.“
“If the Israeli regime’s crimes in Gaza continue, any possibility in the region is likely, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its attempts to halt Israeli war crimes,” he noted.
Haniyeh, in turn, extended his greetings to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranian President as well as the Iranian nation, expressing his gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran for supporting Palestine.
He described as very important a meeting of senior officials of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and added the Muslim world is expected to lend its strong support to the Palestinian nation.
He said the Zionist enemy has committed numerous crimes against the oppressed Palestinian nation for decades, and desecrated the Al-Aqsa Mosque on numerous occasions in recent months. And the Al-Aqsa Flood operation was a natural reaction to these acts and insults.
Haniyeh underlined the Al-Aqsa operation dealt a blow and strategic defeat to the Israeli regime, adding their massacre of people and crimes in Gaza indicate their desperation and anxiety.
He said the Palestinian resistance is strong despite the Israeli regime’s war crimes, indiscriminate and brutal killings, and destruction of homes, mosques, hospitals and public places.
