Iran FM meets Lebanon PM in Beirut
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday afternoon met with Lebanon’s Prime Minister Najib Mikati as he continued his consultations with the country’s high-ranking officials.

In the meeting, Amir Abdollahian said Iran is ready for cooperation with Lebanon to meet the country’s energy needs, especially in the fields of electricity and gas, adding to this end, Iran is interested in expanding ties with Lebanon.
Amir Abdollahian also said in the Vienna talks, the Islamic Republic of Iran, while underlining the achievement of its inalienable rights, will not allow any violation of its red lines, that is, its determination to not back down on the interests and rights of the Iranian people.
Amir Abdollahian noted, “We are optimistic about the outcome of the talks and are at the same time serious. Iran believes that a deal must be such that it will remove most of the US sanctions. Iran wants the deal to also be such that it will be beneficial to all the region.’
In the meeting, the Lebanese prime minister also expressed hope that the Vienna talks will be fruitful and underlined the success in the negotiations will have positive implications for the region and Lebanon.
Mikati also welcomed negotiations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and said Lebanon will benefit from the settlement of disputes between Tehran and Riyadh.
He praised Iran’s diplomacy aimed at reducing tension and resolve misunderstandings.
A group of Lebanese ministers were also present in the meeting.
