The second round of the indirect negotiations between Iran and the US which was coordinated and facilitated by the Omani foreign minister and started in Rome at noon on Saturday، has come to an end.

The Iranian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and the US side headed by Steve Witkoff, US president special envoy for the Middle East, agreed to a new round of talks next week.

During the Saturday negotiations, the lead Iranian and US negotiators outined a general framework for the talks and exchanged views over some key matters regarding sanctions removal and the nuclear issue.

They also agreed to hold the next round of their indirect discussions on Saturday in Muscat.

Given that making a decision as to the effective lifting of the sanctions and trust-building regarding the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program require more detailed technical discussions, the two sides agreed that their delegations hold a meeting in Muscat this coming Wednesday that’s going to be facilitated by the Omani Foreign Ministry
