Iranian FM to head for Muscat for third round of indirect talks with US

The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmail Baqaei told reporters that the country’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi will travel to Muscat on Friday afternoon at the head of a diplomatic and technical-expert delegation to conduct indirect talks with the US.

Baqaei highlighted the mutual understanding between the two sides for holding technical-expert meetings as senior negotiators from both countries are present.

 

He stated that, according to the schedule planned by the host, Oman, and agreed upon by Iran and the US, expert meetings and indirect discussions between Iran's foreign minister and the US president's special representative will take place on Saturday.

 

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that progress in the negotiations requires goodwill, seriousness, and realism from the other side.

 

He reiterated that the delegation representing the Islamic Republic of Iran would adjust every step based on the behavior of the other party, considering past experiences, and would spare no effort to secure the legitimate rights and interests of the Iranian nation.
