Iranian FM Araghchi meets Iraqi Prime Minister in Baghdad

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is visiting Iraq for consultations with senior Iraqi government officials, met and held talks on Sunday afternoon with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi.

During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed the congratulations of Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the formation of Iraq's new government. He reaffirmed Iran's determination to consolidate and expand relations with Iraq across all fields, stressing that enhanced cooperation in the political, economic, security, commercial, cultural, and people-to-people spheres serves the common interests of the two nations and contributes to strengthening regional stability and security.

Araghchi also outlined the latest diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing an end to the U.S.-Zionist imposed war against Iran. He emphasized the need for all regional countries to remain committed to safeguarding regional peace and security, particularly by preventing the aggressor parties from using their territories and facilities to launch unlawful attacks against Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Minister further underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination and cooperation between Iran and Iraq, as well as expanding bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.

The Iraqi Prime Minister, referring to the deep bonds of friendship between Iraq and Iran, affirmed that Iraq's new government is determined to further develop relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran across all fields.

The two sides also emphasized the importance of continuing political consultations, strengthening bilateral coordination, and expanding cooperation to advance their shared interests, preserve regional peace and stability, and combat terrorism.
