FM Araghchi meets head of Iraqs high committee for the Martyred Leaders funeral arrangements

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is visiting Iraq at the head of a diplomatic delegation, met on Sunday afternoon with Ehsan Al-Awadi, Chief of Staff to the Iraqi Prime Minister and Chairman of the Iraqi Prime Minister's High Committee for Coordinating the Funeral Ceremony of the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq.
The meeting was attended by Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, Iran's Deputy Interior Minister and Head of the Headquarters for Organizing the Funeral Ceremony of the Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Seyed Mehdi Mostafavi, Deputy to the Assistant for Communications and International Affairs at the Office of the Supreme Leader, as well as members of the Iraqi Prime Minister's High Committee responsible for organizing the funeral ceremony in Iraq. The participants discussed and exchanged views on the arrangements for the funeral ceremony in Iraq.
Referring to the distinguished and eminent status of Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei (may he rest in peace) and his enduring contributions to the security and dignity of Iraq and the Islamic world, Ehsan Al-Awadi described hosting the funeral ceremony in Iraq and at the holy shrines as a historic honor for the Iraqi nation. He stressed that the Iraqi government and people would spare no effort to ensure the ceremony is held in the most dignified and magnificent manner.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister praised the affection and devotion of the Iraqi people toward the Martyred Leader and expressed appreciation for the Iraqi government's commitment to the matter. He emphasized that the funeral ceremony in Iraq would undoubtedly mark a new chapter in the long history of friendship and solidarity between the neighboring and Muslim nations of Iran and Iraq.
The meeting continued with detailed discussions on the practical arrangements for the funeral ceremony in Iraq. The two sides agreed that coordination between the Funeral Headquarters based at Iran's Ministry of Interior and Iraq's High Committee would continue in the coming days to finalize the necessary preparations for the ceremony in Iraq.
