Iranian and Indian Foreign Ministers Meet on BRICS Sidelines to Discuss Bilateral Ties Regional Developments

Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar Minister of External Affairs of India met today (Friday) on the sidelines of the second day of the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting in New Delhi.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, met today (Friday) on the sidelines of the second day of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi. They discussed bilateral relations, regional developments, and multilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Iran's Foreign Minister thanked the Republic of India for its excellent hosting of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting and stated that very productive talks and meetings had taken place during the gathering.

Araghchi expressed hope that under India's BRICS presidency, greater coordination and achievements would be realized among member states.

Iran's Foreign Minister also briefed his Indian counterpart on the latest developments following the 40-day war, the current fragile ceasefire situation, and the negotiation process related to ending the war.

The two sides also consulted and exchanged views on the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as developments concerning maritime security and regional stability.

India's Foreign Minister, referring to the consistently warm and friendly relations between Iran and India, emphasized his country's support for diplomatic solutions to resolve international issues and disputes.
