Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman: Germany’s humanitarian claims against Iran hypothetical
.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baqaei condemned the German Foreign Ministry’s recent claims against Iran as meddlesome and hypocritical. Referring to Germany's continued abuse of human rights mechanisms to advance its political goals against other countries, including Iran, the Foreign Ministry spokesman described Berlin’s move to submit an anti-Iranian resolution at the Human Rights Council along with Britain and several other governments as being in line with their selective approach and double standards regarding the issue of human rights.
Baqaei underlined that as the second largest arms supplier to the genocidal Israeli regime, Germany is complicit in all the crimes and gross violations of human and humanitarian rights against the innocent people of Palestine and the region, and therefore is in no position morally and legally to preach others on human rights.
He also spoke about the Iranian nation's historic demand that Germany be held accountable for its active and conscious participation in the development of the former Iraqi regime's chemical weapons program, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of tens of thousands of Iranian soldiers and civilians during the Iraqi imposed war.
Baqaei said if German officials are honest in their claims about human rights and justice, they must agree to the official proposal of the Islamic Republic of Iran to put in place a joint fact-finding mechanism to uncover the truth about the role of German companies and public and private sectors officials in arming Saddam’s regime with chemical weapons.
He noted that Iran’s proposal was handed over to the German emEmbassy in Tehran long ago
