Attending the 10th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Portugal, Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, held a meeting on the sidelines of the event with Tanja Fajon, the Foreign Minister of Slovenia. The two discussed issues related to bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and Iran-Europe ties.

During the meeting, Araghchi emphasized Iran’s principled policy of maintaining and enhancing engagement with other countries. He stressed the need for all parties to adhere to recognized international principles and norms, calling for collective efforts to address global challenges.
Araghchi further noted that sanctions and pressure not only violate international law and the United Nations Charter but have also proven ineffective.

The Iranian Foreign Minister described the situation in West Asia as extremely perilous due to the ongoing genocide perpetrated by the Zionist regime and its aggressions against Lebanon and other countries in the region. He urged all nations, particularly those supporting the Zionist regime, to take responsibility for halting Israel’s crimes and warmongering and to prevent the further spread of threats to international peace and security.

Fajon, for her part, acknowledged Iran’s significant role in West Asia and its contributions to safeguarding regional peace and stability. She underscored the importance of intensified international efforts to curb the spread of insecurity and instability in the region.
