Iranian deputy FM for political affairs meets with IMO Secretary-General
Irans Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi met with Arsenio Dominguez Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to discuss and exchange views on bilateral cooperation between Iran and the IMO.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht Ravanchi, met with Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to discuss and exchange views on bilateral cooperation between Iran and the IMO.
During the meeting, Takht Ravanchi highlighted Iran's professional contributions to the IMO and the strong cooperation between the two parties. He emphasized that enhancing maritime safety and security in the region requires addressing the root causes of instability.
He identified the Zionist regime, through its perpetration of international crimes in Gaza and Lebanon, as the principal source of tension and instability in the region.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs also referred to the recent sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United Kingdom on the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines. He asserted that such measures violate international law, particularly the conventions of the IMO.
The IOM Secretary-General pointed to the developments in the Red Sea region and reiterated the importance of maritime safety and security.
Dominguez emphasized the critical role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in promoting maritime safety and security for the benefit of seafarers and the maritime community.
Dominguez further underscored his commitment to enhancing interaction between the IMO and Iran, stating that he has proposed and pursued initiatives to strengthen this cooperation.
