Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi, who is in Geneva to participate in the meeting of the International Inter-Parliamentary Union, held talks with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric.

Gharibabadi pointed to the importance of the mission and activities of the ICRC and offered condolences to the chairman thereof on the loss of a number of its members in attacks by the Zionist regime.
He said that the Israeli regime has been committing crimes in Gaza with impunity, which has emboldened Tel Aviv to spread its atrocities to Lebanon.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister added that the Israeli war on Lebanon has displaced more than one million and three hundred thousand civilians internally or has made them refugees in Syria and other countries, and at the same time, the Israeli regime has warned the Lebanese authorities that it’s going to also attack relief equipment and rescuers who intend to help the victims of the attacks who are under the rubble. Gharibabadi noted that Israel has even targeted a number of rescuers.

He stated that the situation of innocent people is very dire, and now “we must all work to establish an immediate ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid".

The Iranian deputy foreign minister condemned the crime of attacking the Iranian Red Crescent Field Hospital in Syria and setting fire to its equipment and medicine warehouse as a war crime.
He said the Zionist regime does not adhere to any of the rules of international humanitarian law and it is necessary for the ICRC to condemn such crimes clearly and decisively.

He then spoke about the Zionist regime's pressure on the UN Secretary General and the humanitarian institutions of the organization such as UNRWA and the regime's threat to call it terrorist. Gharibabadi noted that if the Zionist regime’s actions are not countered, there is no guarantee that the Red Cross mission will also be spared of such pressures.

The head of the ICRC also called the situation in Gaza and Lebanon worthy of international attention. While explaining the efforts of the committee to help the people of Gaza and Lebanon, she called for increasing and facilitating the humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza and Lebanon.
