Remarks by Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the end of his visit to New York

🔹Today is the last day of our stay in New York. We have had several very busy days in terms of the number of meetings that were held. We had a great many bilateral and multilateral meetings.

🔹The President, whom we had the honor of accompanying, had an intensive schedule, and I, too, had numerous meetings alongside him, both before and after his engagements. We spoke with the media and had extensive discussions with think tanks and members of the think tank community. We met with various countries' officials, as well as officials from the United Nations and other international organizations, and several objectives were pursued throughout all these engagements.

🔹First, it was to ensure that the voice of the Iranian people’s righteousness and their plight was heard by the world, to defend the interests of the Iranian people, and to demonstrate that Iran continues to be present on the international stage with strength and confidence.

🔹We encountered officials from many countries who were interested in engaging in dialogue with Iran, and a very large number of our meetings were held at the request of the other side. It was evident in these meetings that, contrary to what the United States and the Zionist regime tried to portray, the Islamic Republic is by no means isolated; rather, it is highly respected.

🔹It was stated in numerous meetings that both the people and officials of those countries genuinely appreciate what Iran did and the steadfastness it demonstrated in the face of what is ostensibly the world’s largest military. This steadfastness made many countries and many people proud.

🔹Another objective we pursued, which is a very important one, was to convey to the world the country’s positions regarding the war, and particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

🔹There are conditions set by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and these conditions must be fulfilled for the Strait of Hormuz to be opened. Our mission was to convey these conditions both to the American side and to all other countries and the international community, so that they would be aware that Iran has a plan in this regard. Iran’s conditions are entirely fair and logical, and if the Americans claim that they are seeking an agreement or a peaceful solution, we present this solution to them.

🔹Our plan, which became known as the seven-point plan, was conveyed to the Americans through the Qatari intermediary. Despite the remarks made by the US president, I said that we were awaiting an official response from the United States through the intermediaries. Today, one of the Qatari intermediaries held another meeting with us. We discussed various issues and exchanged ideas on how to facilitate the fulfillment of Iran’s conditions and how these conditions could be met. They had some ideas, and we discussed them. They are going to raise this matter with the American side once again, and then the American side’s final response will be conveyed to us through the Qatari intermediary. They hope this will be done by tomorrow.

🔹I will fly to Tehran in a few hours, and whenever the Qataris have a response, they know themselves how they can convey it to us. These communications and messages exchanged between the Qatari and Pakistani mediators had already existed. Now, in light of the plan presented by Iran, they have taken on a more serious form. If there is a response, the Qataris will convey it, and a decision will then be made in Tehran based on that response.

🔹We have seen that, over the past few hours, a media campaign has emerged in various outlets, with claims being made and statements attributed to Iran. I categorically state that there has been no change whatsoever in Iran’s positions. Our conditions for reopening the Strait are clear. Our position on other issues is also clear. At present, there has been absolutely no discussion of any flexibility on our part.

🔹Our position is clear. At present, the only issue is the Strait of Hormuz. The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is also contingent upon the fulfillment of a number of conditions that we have communicated to the other side. I would ask that no attention be paid to the speculation or deliberate media narratives being created by certain outlets.
