Araghchi speaks to IRIB IRNA reporters on sidelines of UN General Assembly

🔹 Our participation in this year’s General Assembly was very active. The President left and returned this morning, but his presence was very active, with numerous meetings, numerous interviews, and that very strong speech he delivered at the Assembly.
🔹 Alongside him, I also held numerous meetings, which you have certainly followed in the news. In all these meetings, our main focus was to state the conditions of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and for the advancement of the negotiations—conditions that have been set by the Supreme National Security Council.
🔹 We were tasked with explaining and presenting these conditions here and defending them. Thankfully, this was formally done in all the meetings we held. In the meetings we had with the mediators, these conditions were fully conveyed, explained and elaborated upon, and they also conveyed these matters to the American side.
🔹 We defended our positions, our policy and the conditions we had set in all the meetings, and the entire world, particularly fair-minded countries around the world, became aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran, just as it has defended its country well, has consistently demonstrated strength in the diplomatic arena as well, and in particular, by presenting various proposals and establishing a diplomatic path, has been able to steer the diplomatic environment in its own favor.
🔹 The proposals we put forward were discussed in interviews, explained and also raised in the meetings. They were also conveyed to the American side through intermediaries.
🔹 We saw the first reaction from the US president, but nothing has yet been conveyed to us by the mediators. Of course, the US president has also made many positive statements as well as many contradictory ones, which, unfortunately, we hear from him quite often. We are waiting for the definitive views to be conveyed to us through the intermediaries, and we will make a decision based on them.
🔹 In any case, our conditions are clear, and any move forward toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz is contingent upon these conditions being met, and we will not back down from them.
🔹 The outlook for the Iranian people is a bright one. The Iranian people have demonstrated their strength in the military arena, the diplomatic arena, and also in the economic arena and in confronting sanctions.
🔹 Our enemies have also tried every possible path; they pursued every avenue they could and failed to achieve results. There will be no way forward other than a negotiated solution based on dignity and justice, while securing the rights of the Iranian people and meeting their legitimate demands.
🔹 Only a negotiated solution can get them out of this impasse. This is our position. Many countries share this position with us and understand it.
🔹 There is no one in the world today who can accuse the Islamic Republic of Iran of not having tried the path of diplomacy. In this respect, we are in a stronger political position, because we have never closed the path of diplomacy or negotiations, while at the same time we have never backed down from our rights.
🔹 Whenever our enemies chose another path, we also stood firmly against them on that path.
