Iranian Nigerien FMs hold talks in New York discuss bilateral Ties regional developments

Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran who is in New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly met with Bakary Yaou Sangaré Minister of Foreign Affairs of Niger on Monday afternoon to discuss and exchange views on Iran-Niger bilateral relations and international developments.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is in New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Bakary Yaou Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Niger, on Monday afternoon to discuss and exchange views on Iran-Niger bilateral relations and international developments.

The Iranian Foreign Minister thanked the people of Niger for expressing solidarity with the Iranian people in the face of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also expressed satisfaction with the very good and growing relations between the two countries in all areas and appreciated Niger’s principled position against the instrumental use of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) against Iran.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to expand Iran-Niger bilateral relations as well as joint cooperation within the framework of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to strengthen relations with African countries, particularly the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), the Foreign Minister expressed hope that a joint meeting between Iran and the three member states of the Alliance of Sahel States would be held as soon as possible.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, recalling the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled position in support of the independence and national sovereignty of developing countries, condemned the continued pressure and illegal interference by some Western countries, including France, in the internal affairs of African countries. He also underscored the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the efforts of the Nigerien government to safeguard the country’s independence and national sovereignty, maintain security and stability, and advance its development programs.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also briefed his Nigerien counterpart on developments in the West Asia region and the Iranian people’s defense of their national sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime.
