Iranian Malian Foreign Ministers meet on sidelines of UNGA in New York

Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly met with Abdoulaye Diop Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali on Monday afternoon.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met with Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali, on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on Iran-Mali bilateral relations and international developments.

The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Mali’s principled positions in opposition to violations of the law and unilateral coercive measures, as well as for the solidarity expressed by the people and government of Mali with Iran in the face of the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime.

Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to strengthen relations with developing countries, including African countries, particularly the member states of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), the Foreign Minister announced Iran’s readiness to hold a joint meeting with the three member states of the Alliance of Sahel States.

Recalling the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled position in support of the independence and national sovereignty of all countries, Araghchi condemned the pressures and unlawful interference by certain European countries in the internal affairs of the Sahel countries, which have engaged in creating and financing terrorist groups and organized crime in the region.

The Malian Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the growing trend in his country’s relations with Iran, outlined recent developments in Mali and the Sahel region, and stressed that his country and other African nations would not allow the colonial and interventionist ambitions of certain European governments to be realized.
