Iranian foreign minister appoints special envoy for Syrian affairs

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has in a decree appointed Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani as his special envoy for Syrian affairs.

 

 

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has, in a decree, appointed Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani as his special envoy for Syrian affairs.

 

The decree highlights the significance of Syria as a key country in West Asia and the importance of peace and stability in Syria for regional security.

 

It underscores the necessity to maintain Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as respecting the will and aspirations of the Syrian people to determine their own fate without foreign interference or presence.

 

It says Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani has been tasked with consulting all relevant parties, including friendly countries in the region, to fulfill his responsibilities and report the results regularly to the foreign minister.

Dear Mr. Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheibani,

 

Greetings,

 

You, as a distinguished and experienced diplomat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are hereby appointed as my Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs.

 

Syria is a crucial country in West Asia. The Islamic Republic of Iran, recognizing the importance of stability and tranquility in Syria and its impact on regional peace and security, emphasizes the need to preserve Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty and respect the will and aspirations of the Syrian people in determining their destiny without foreign interference or presence.

 

The decision on Syria's future belongs to the Syrian people, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will regulate its relations with any government system that arises from the collective will and desire of the people, based on mutual respect and benefits and according to international rules and regulations.

 

Regional stability and security can only be achieved through cooperation and mutual understanding among regional countries. The principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on maintaining and enhancing friendly relations with all neighboring and Islamic countries according to the “principles of international law governing friendly relations and cooperation among states in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.” Good neighborly relations are a key principle in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

You are tasked with consulting all relevant parties, including friendly countries in the region, to fulfill the assigned responsibility and regularly report the results to me.
