Iran, Egypt foreign ministers meet at D-8 Summit

The Islamic Republic of Irans Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the eight developing Muslim states’ organization for economic cooperation known as D-8 in Cairo.

Araghchi expressed gratitude for Egypt's hospitality and successful hosting of the D-8 Ministerial Meeting. He expressed hope that the D-8 Summit would achieve results benefiting the developing Islamic countries and the Muslim world.

Both sides emphasized the significant and influential roles and stances of Iran and Egypt in the region and the Islamic world, highlighting the need for increased cooperation among D-8 member states, particularly in economic sectors.

Araghchi expressed hope for Egypt's effective presidency in revitalizing and activating the D-8 organization and stated the Islamic Republic of Iran's readiness to assist Egypt in this regard.

Araghchi and Abdelatty discussed regional developments, focusing on the expansion of the scope of the Zionist regime’s aggressions from Gaza and Lebanon to Syria.

They stressed the need for regional cooperation, especially between Iran and Egypt, to halt the aggressions and prevent further tensions.

They also underscored the necessity to continue efforts to stop the genocide against Palestinians and deliver immediate humanitarian aid to the vulnerable people of Gaza.

The ministers also discussed and exchanged views on bilateral issues of mutual interest.
