Iranian ,Egyptian FMs meet in Cairo, talk regional issues

As part of his ongoing diplomatic consultations over the past two weeks with regional countries regarding the sensitive security situation, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aty in Cairo.

In the meeting, the two top diplomats exchanged views on the latest regional developments and the growing dangers and concerns arising from the continued crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon.

Araghchi emphasized the Islamic Republic’s principled stance on the need to end the occupation as the root cause of insecurity in the region. He called for intensified and comprehensive efforts by regional countries to halt the killing and aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly Gaza and the West Bank, as well as in Lebanon.

He also stressed the necessity for practical action by the international community to prevent the continued threat to regional stability and security by the Zionist regime and to facilitate immediate humanitarian aid to Palestinian and Lebanese refugees.

The Egyptian foreign minister, for his part, outlined Cairo’s perspective and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region. He emphasized the need for joint efforts by regional countries and the international community to protect peace, stability, and security in the region and to accelerate and facilitate humanitarian assistance to the oppressed people of Gaza and Lebanon.

The two sides underscored the shared position of Iran and Egypt on the necessity of stopping the aggression and war against Gaza and Lebanon, preventing the escalation of insecurity and instability in the region, respecting the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of all regional countries, and the urgent need to provide humanitarian assistance to refugees in Gaza and Lebanon.

They also acknowledged the positive and forward-looking developments in bilateral interactions between the two countries. The two top diplomats agreed to continue the current processes and maintain mutual consultations aimed at expanding bilateral relations.
