Iran FM Azerbaijani deputy PM talk regional issues bilateral ties

Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi this Tuesday afternoon.

 

During the meeting, Mustafayev touched upon the productive and constructive meetings and discussions with Iranian officials. He expressed that his visit and that of his delegation to Tehran signifies Baku’s commitment to enhancing relations with Iran.

 

He described the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, investment, transit, electricity, water, and oil as beneficial and constructive. Mustafayev further expressed hope that, given the significant capacities of both countries, bilateral cooperation under Iran’s new government would expand even further.

 

The Azerbaijani deputy prime minister provided an overview of the developments in the Caucasus region, emphasizing Baku’s approach to establishing peace in the region. He also underscored that the Republic of Azerbaijan would not allow its territory to be used for aggression against its neighbors.

 

Highlighting the importance of Azerbaijan in Iran’s foreign policy, Araghchi expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would continue to grow.

 

He noted the crucial role of the Joint Economic Commission between the two countries in this regard.

 

Araghchi positively assessed the determination of regional countries to resolve issues through negotiation and reach a peace agreement, offering Iran’s readiness to assist in this process.

 

The Iranian foreign minister also pointed to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the defenseless people of Palestine and Lebanon, with the support of certain Western countries, stressing the need for global action to halt these atrocities.

 

Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s opposition to foreign interventions in the Caucasus and emphasized the importance of utilizing regional capacities, including the 3+3 consultative mechanism.
