Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has commended Nicaragua for its responsible action to sever all ties with the Zionist regime.

Baghaei described the move as a testament to Nicaragua’s commitment to international law, the United Nations Charter and international agreements aimed at preventing and countering genocide.

Baghaei lauded the resilience and steadfastness of the Nicaraguan government and people in the face of U.S. economic sanctions and political pressures.

He also described Nicaragua's principled stance in condemning the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and the aggressions of the occupying regime against Lebanon as ‘praiseworthy.’

Baghaei underscored the necessity for other countries to join the campaign to sever ties with the regime and to mobilize the international community to stop its malevolence and warmongering.

Referring to Nicaragua’s statement, which described the Zionist regime as an “enemy of humanity” and a “threat to regional and global peace and security,” the spokesperson expressed gratitude for the Nicaraguan people and government’s solidarity and support for the people in Palestine, Lebanon, and other regional nations against the “genocide, occupation, and continuous aggression” of the occupying regime.

Baghaei expressed hope that Nicaragua's bold and responsible move in breaking off ties with the genocidal Israeli regime – following in the footsteps of Bolivia and Colombia in the Americas – would serve as an example for other countries to fulfill their legal and moral commitments against the Zionist regime’s occupation and genocide.
