The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met and held talks with his Kuwaiti counterpart Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Araghchi referred to the upcoming visit by Iranian president Massoud Pezeshkian to New York and said the policy of good neighborliness is one of the principles of the new Iranian administration, which he said is set to further deepen the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ties with the regional countries.

The Iranian foreign minister also discussed the Zionist regime’s recent aggression, underlining that Israeli regime’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu resorts to the measures in order to escape from the deadlock in the Gaza Strip.

He said, “The Zionist regime entered Gaza to completely destroy the Hamas movement, but it failed and now it is in a desperate situation.”

Araghchi also discussed the martyrdom of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli strike in Tehran, vowing that the assassination will not go unanswered.

The top Iranian diplomat said the occupying regime’s atrocities are a serious threat to regional and world peace and security.

He further said that the countries in the region should cooperate with each other in order to shield themselves against the regime’s evil moves and added that the Islamic Republic of Iran favors maximum dialogue and interaction with the southern Persian Gulf littoral states.

For his part, the Kuwaiti foreign minister said he was pleased to meet with his Iranian counterpart. Al-Yahya also welcomed the Islamic Republic of Iran's neighborhood policy and expressed hope that the ties between Iran and the regional countries would further expand.
