Iran’s acting FM meets with Saudi deputy FM on sidelines of ACD meeting in Tehran

Waleed A. Elkhereiji Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia who traveled to Tehran to participate in the 19th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Forum met and held discussions with Ali Bagheri on the sidelines of the event.

Waleed A. Elkhereiji, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, who traveled to Tehran to participate in the 19th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Forum, met and held discussions with Ali Bagheri, Iran’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the event.

During the meeting, Bagheri emphasized that the two countries have a serious determination and will to pursue the deepening and development of relations in various fields, adding: “We believe that there should be no obstacle in the way of this process.”

The Iranian Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs also thanked the relevant Saudi officials for facilitating the affairs of fellow Iranian pilgrims in performing the Hajj rituals and their peaceful return to Iran. He also called for the continuation of cooperation on the part of Saudi officials in providing necessary and appropriate facilities to Iranian pilgrims.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, for his part, once again expressed his and his government’s condolences and sympathy regarding the tragic incident that led to the martyrdom of the Iranian President and Foreign Minister and prayed to Almighty God for peace and divine forgiveness for their souls.

Waleed A. Elkhereiji expressed confidence that with the successful holding of the presidential election and the formation of the new government, the Iranian people will successfully overcome this phase.

Referring to the ongoing efforts to advance and strengthen relations between the two countries, he expressed hope that these efforts would continue strongly given the special attention of the high-ranking officials of both countries as well as their cultural and historical commonalities.
