Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri met with Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa on the sidelines of a joint meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS member states and developing countries in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod on Tuesday as his last scheduled meeting in the event.

The Iranian diplomat sounded upbeat that the efforts by the martyred Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian to advance foreign policy plans, especially in boosting ties with Asian countries, will continue.

Touching on the short but fruitful trip he recently took to Thailand and his meetings with senior Thai officials, Bagheri highlighted the highly suitable capacities to level up and enhance cooperation between the two countries in economic and commercial fields.

The caretaker head of Iran’s diplomatic service also touched on the deplorable situation on the ground in Gaza, stressing it is caused by unilateralism in the world.

He stated, “Countries like the US not only do not take any measure to stop the massacre, but also provide advanced weapons to the occupiers to continue the genocide in Gaza, and it means unilateralism has reached a dead end and has failed to provide any solution for global issues and problems.”

He also pointed out that unilateralism is retreating and has reached a dead end on major world issues, noting, “The multilateralism approach is a new way of thinking to solve global issues.”

Meanwhile, the Thai foreign minister reiterated in the meeting that his country is doing its best to build up its bilateral and multilateral ties with Iran, including within the BRICS format.
