Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri meets with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the BRICS conference in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.

At the beginning of the meeting, Bagheri appreciated the condolence messages of high-ranking Chinese officials over the martyrdom of late president Ebrahim Raisi and foreign minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, especially the presence of China’s special envoy at a ceremony held in tribute to the martyrs.

Bagheri stressed that relations between Iran and China are deep-rooted and headed for improvement in all fields, and under the current situation, it is important to build a fairer world where independent countries can take responsibility based on their capacities and have proportional rights based on their capabilities.

He added that multilateralism, which is spearheaded by Iran and China, offers clear and specific solutions to global problems and dilemmas, while unilateralism has not only brought the world to a standstill, but also it is not even capable of solving its own problems.

As for the bilateral relations between Tehran and Beijing, Bagheri underscored that Iran thinks the horizon of cooperation between them is bright, moving forward and successful.

The Iranian acting foreign minister added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to consolidate stable and strategic relations with the Chinese government.

Bagheri also said cooperation between Iran and China is not only for the benefit of both countries, but also guarantees stability and security in the regional and global arenas.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Bagheri pointed to China's opposition to unilateralism and said the membership of the two countries in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group has created a new capacity to protect the rights and interests of independent nations at the global level.

Referring to the genocidal war of the Zionists against Gaza, Bagheri said Iran is ready to use all its capacities to support the oppressed and helpless people of Gaza.

The Chinese foreign minister also expressed condolences over the martyrdom of the late president and foreign minister of Iran in the May air crash.

Wang Yi stressed that Iran has recently faced a serious test and as a friendly country, China stands by the government and people of Iran and supports the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Wang Yi then praised the policies and efforts of the late Iranian president and foreign minister in deepening and comprehensively expanding the relations between the two countries. The top Chinese diplomat underscored that China values the strategic partnership treaty with Iran and noted that his country is fully ready to continue down the path of progressing ties between Beijing and Tehran and to implement the strategic partnership treaty.
