Iran’s newly-appointed envoy to South Africa meets FM before departure

Iran’s ambassador to South Africa met and held talks with the Iranian foreign minister on the eve of his departure to his place of mission on Monday evening.

Mansour Shakib Mehr presented a report on his mission site and the bilateral ties between Iran and South Africa and elaborated on his plans during his mission in Pretoria.

Meanwhile, the Iranian foreign minister wished the ambassador success during his term in office and stressed on the need to follow up the plans for bilateral ties, including the deals made within the framework of the joint commission.

Hossein Amirabdollahian also highlighted the existing potentials in the bilateral ties and said the path should be paved for cooperation within the framework of the BRICS and other regional and international organizations.

Shakib Mehr earlier held various positions, including deputy director at the Foreign Ministry’s Western Europe Department, Iran’s ambassador to the Ivory Coast, and advisor to the foreign minister.
