Iran FM and Head of Chinese ruling party’s liaison office discuss promotion of bilateral ties

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with the head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese ruling party Liu Jianchao on Wednesday in the Iranian capital Tehran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with the head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese ruling party Liu Jianchao on Wednesday in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Amirabdollahian highlighted the significance of continued consultations between governing institutions and parties and interactions between the think-tanks of the two countries in order to bolster mutual understanding. He also underlined the need to promote cooperation between the two peoples as well as provincial and tourism exchanges.

Meanwhile, Jianchao said he was pleased with the consultations he held in Tehran. The Chinese official said stepping up interactions between people, tourism exchanges, cooperation between the media, and deepening the communication between the youth, students and elites in the two countries within the framework of scientific and academic interactions can deepen mutual understanding and help boost inclusive cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During the meeting, the two sides held talks about bilateral cooperation in the light of the agreements made during Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to China earlier this year in February.

They also discussed the latest developments in Gaza, Afghanistan and issues of mutual concern.

The head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese ruling party and his accompanying delegation are on a 2-day trip in Tehran at the official invitation of Iran’s Expediency Council. They have met the and held talks with the chairman and  secretary of the council as well as representatives of Iranian parties.
