Kanaani said it’s highly regrettable that some European states, in an unjustified move and in violation of basic principles of human rights, defend terrorists who target innocent people and are clearly proud of their crimes instead of confronting them. The Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that HabibollahFarajollahChaab, also known as Habib Asyud, was the ringleader of a terrorist cell and was responsible for orchestrating and carrying out numerous criminal operations such as the cowardly terror attack on September 22, 2018 in the Iranian city of Ahvaz that left a group of innocent Iranian citizens including women and children, dead or wounded. Kanaani added Habib Asyud has a dark record of acts of violence as well as terror and carnage of innocent men, women and children. The Foreign Ministry spokesman underlined that such statements by Western governments in support of terrorists not only constitute obstruction of justice, but they also emboldens terrorists and promotes the heinous phenomenon of terror across the world. Kanaani reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is firmly resolved to fight back against terrorism and bring terrorists to justice and it will not spare any efforts to defend the rights of the Iranian people and provide them with security. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson deplored the destructive approach of the violators of human rights. He underscored that if the European self-styled defenders of human rights lack absolute determination to fight against terrorism in all its forms, the least they can do is to avoid defending terrorists and worsen the ordeal of the families of the victims.
