Iranian FM meets with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held talks with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres as he continued diplomatic consultations and negotiations with his counterparts and high-ranking officials participating in the 52nd Conference of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.


 
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian held talks with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres as he continued diplomatic consultations and negotiations with his counterparts and high-ranking officials participating in the 52nd Conference of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In the relatively detailed and constructive meeting, Amirabdollahian and Guterres discussed various regional and international issues including Yemen, Ukraine, human rights issues, actions and developments related to strengthening the process of regional stability and convergence, and so on.

They further held talks over the latest developments concerning cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, in order to resolve technical differences. Other issues over which the Iranian foreign minister and the UN chief held discussions were the visit of the IAEA’s officials to Tehran, the ongoing diplomatic moves and measures regarding sanctions removal talks and the return of all parties to the Iran nuclear deal, JCPOA.

Amirabdollahian and Guterres agreed that all sides need to take coordinated steps that have been envisioned regarding those issues at the same time that consultations continue.
