The outline of agreements and the final communiqué of the multilateral conference on Iraq
The follow-up meeting of the Baghdad Conference on Cooperation and Participation chaired by the Iraqi foreign minister and the participation of the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, France, Kuwait and Jordan, the secretaries general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, officials from Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt and the European Union High Commission for Defense and Foreign Policy was held in New York on Tuesday.
The follow-up meeting of the Baghdad Conference on Cooperation and Participation chaired by the Iraqi foreign minister and the participation of the foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran, France, Kuwait and Jordan, the secretaries general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, officials from Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt and the European Union High Commission for Defense and Foreign Policy was held in New York on Tuesday.
The meeting explored ways of following up on the resolutions of the Baghdad Conference that happened on August 28, and decided to hold the second meeting of the Baghdad Conference in Jordan.
The participants issued a statement at the end of the meeting in which they reaffirmed their support for the Iraqi government and people, the reconstruction of Iraq and the actions of its government in strengthening security and stability in the country. They also reiterated the importance of the Iraqi parliamentary elections due in October this year.
The participants pointed to various challenges in the region and stressed the need to solve them through cooperation and mutual benefit and in accordance with the principles of international law, good neighborliness and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
