Iranian Foreign Minister meets with Burkina Faso counterpart

Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly met and held talks with Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso on Sunday.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, met and held talks with Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, on Sunday.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on Iran-Burkina Faso bilateral relations, as well as developments in the Sahel and West Asia regions.

The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for his Burkinabe counterpart’s attendance at the ceremony held to pay tribute to the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and thanked Burkina Faso for its principled positions and for expressing the solidarity and sympathy of the Burkinabe people with the Iranian nation in the face of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime.

The Foreign Minister emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to strengthen relations with African countries, particularly with the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), and expressed hope that a joint meeting between Iran and the three member states of the Alliance of Sahel States would be held as soon as possible.

The Foreign Minister also recalled the Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled position in support of the independence and national sovereignty of all countries, and described and condemned France’s pressures and illegal interference in the internal affairs of African countries as unacceptable.

The Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso expressed satisfaction with the growing relations between Burkina Faso and Iran, and stressed his country’s determination, along with that of the other members of the Alliance of Sahel States, to strengthen relations and cooperation with Iran.،
