Iranian Turkish FMs discuss regional international developments in New York

The Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

The Iranian Foreign Minister outlined the latest regional developments and elaborated on the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that the current situation, including insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, is a direct result of the aggressive actions by the United States and the Zionist regime, which began on March 1, 2026, and have continued in various forms to date.

The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation to Turkey for its good offices aimed at strengthening peace and security in the region, stressing that the United States’ breach of its commitments led to the Islamabad Understanding being violated less than three weeks after its signing, with consequences affecting the entire region and the world.

The Iranian Foreign Minister underscored the importance of all regional countries making efforts to restore peace and security by building mutual trust, particularly by refraining from following the United States’ interventionist and unlawful measures in military and economic forms, and declared Iran’s readiness to cooperate toward this end.

The meeting also covered bilateral Iran-Turkey relations and ways to expand exchanges in areas of mutual interest.
