Iranian Foreign Minister holds phone talks with Lebanese leaders

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held separate telephone conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri.

During the calls, the Iranian foreign minister briefed the Lebanese officials on the details of the provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, particularly the clauses related to Lebanon.

Araghchi also referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment to ending the war and aggression against Lebanon, stressing the responsibility of the United States for ensuring the proper implementation of the provisions of the understanding and the necessity of a complete halt to Israeli attacks against Lebanon.

The Lebanese officials, for their part, welcomed the provisions of the recent memorandum of understanding and emphasized that Lebanon’s stability and security are an inseparable part of any serious effort to establish stability in the region. They also expressed appreciation for the inclusion of ending the war against Lebanon in the text of the memorandum.
