Iran extends condolences over martyrdom of local Iranian Embassy staff in Damascus

Bitaraf was martyred on Sunday, December 15, by terrorists’ gunfire targeting his vehicle in Damascus.
Baqaei extended his sympathies to Bitaraf’s family and the people of Iran and strongly condemned the criminal act.
The spokesperson noted that Bitaraf’s body was discovered, identified, and repatriated to Iran in recent days.
He emphasized the responsibility of the Syrian transitional government to identify, prosecute, and punish the perpetrators of the crime.
He added, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seriously pursuing the matter in an appropriate manner through diplomatic and international channels
