Iran’s acting FM meets with Russian deputy FM

Ali Bagheri, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the continuation of his meetings and consultations with ministers and heads of delegations participating in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Forum in Tehran,
met with Andrey Rudenko, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
At the outset of their meeting, Bagheri condemned Monday’s terrorist incident in Russia and expressed solidarity with the Russian government and people.
He described terrorism as a tool of unilateralism used to exert pressure on independent countries like Iran and Russia.
Bagheri praised the level and diversity of cooperation between Iran and Russia as very good and fruitful.
He characterized the Tehran-Moscow relations as strategic and expressed satisfaction with the finalization of the draft comprehensive strategic cooperation treaty between the two countries.
The Iranian Acting Foreign Minister emphasized the importance and commitment of the leadership of both countries to deepen and expand relations, noting that the change of government in Iran will not undermine this strategic approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Bagheri identified corridors and transit routes as among the areas beneficial for both countries, stressing that the implementation of agreements in this regard would benefit Iran, Russia, and regional countries.
Andrey Rudenko, for his part, expressed condolences again for the tragic incident involving the helicopter crash in May and described the late Ayatollah Raisi and Amirabdollahian as keen on developing comprehensive relations between Russia and Iran. He highlighted their strategic interest in enhancing and deepening bilateral ties and steering strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia expressed hope that the development of relations between the two countries would continue to progress positively.
He congratulated the successful hosting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue Forum in Tehran to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the officials responsible for organizing the event.
During the meeting, both sides discussed Iran and Russia’s cooperation in international forums such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and the 3+3 consultative mechanism regarding the Caucasus. They emphasized the active
and high-level participation of both countries in these critical events.
