The Swedish Ambassador in Tehran, Mathias Otterstedt, was summoned to the Iranian Foreign Ministry by the Director of the Western Europe’s Third Department, Shahram Ghazi-Zadeh, in response to the inappropriate and interventionist positions of some Swedish officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the summoning meeting, Ghazi-Zadeh communicated Iran’s formal protest to the Swedish envoy and criticized the inappropriate statements, baseless accusations, and interventionist remarks made by the Swedish minister of education against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He described the statements as contrary to international law and diplomatic norms, emphasizing that the Swedish government is not in a position to question the performance of legal institutions of another country or to defend a criminal whose crimes have been fully proven.
During the meeting, Ghazi-Zadeh also followed up on the latest status of the case of Niloufar Zare, an Iranian citizen who was recently targeted in a violent incident in Sweden and lost her life. He requested that the judicial process regarding the crime be communicated to the Iranian government.
The Swedish ambassador stated that he would convey the matters to his respective government.
