Before Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi left Oman on Monday afternoon, China’s top diplomat Wnag Yi contacted the Iranian Embassy in Muscat to talk with him. During their conversation, the two foreign ministers discussed the latest developments in West Asia. Referring to the important and strategic relations between China and Iran, the Chinese foreign minister emphasized the need to increase diplomatic efforts and initiatives with various regional and international parties to prevent an escalation of tension and insecurity in West Asia. Araghchi for his part welcomed the Chinese government’s efforts to stop the war-mongering and crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and Lebanon. He described the inaction of the UN Security Council due to the obstruction of the United States as disastrous. Araghchi also praised China's role in helping maintain regional peace and security. In the telephone conversation, bilateral relations and the meeting between the presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, were also discussed.
