Iranian FM Iraqi president meet in Baghdad discuss Israeli regime’s atrocities
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met and held talks with Abdul Latif Rashid the President of Iraq.
In continuation of his consultations with senior Iraqi government officials regarding regional developments, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met and held talks with Abdul Latif Rashid, the President of Iraq.   During the meeting, Araghchi expressed his profound revulsion and deep concern over the continued genocide perpetrated by the Zionist regime in Gaza and the expansion of the occupying regime’s aggression to Lebanon. He underscored the moral, humanitarian, and Islamic responsibility of regional countries to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza and Lebanon. Araghchi also outlined the measures taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran to assist the people of Lebanon and commended the Iraqi government for its humanitarian support and its acceptance of a number of Lebanese refugees.   Araghchi touched upon the clear violations of humanitarian law norms and standards by the Zionist regime, including the recent airstrike on the Iranian Red Crescent’s relief center near the Lebanon-Syria border. He emphasized that obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Lebanon constitutes a war crime. The Iranian foreign minister called for the condemnation of these atrocities by governments and relevant international bodies, particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross.   He highlighted that the expansion of the Zionist regime’s aggression into Lebanon and its continued threats against other countries pose a grave danger to regional peace and security. Araghchi reiterated the responsibility of all regional countries to prevent the imposition of a full-scale conflict upon the peoples of the region.   He asserted: “Fortunately, there is now a shared understanding among regional countries and many others that, by any means necessary, the Zionist regime’s machinery of genocide and war crimes must be stopped. Accordingly, it is essential to strengthen consultations between regional countries and other United Nations member states to mobilize the international community at all levels against the threats and violations posed by the occupying regime.”   The President of Iraq, for his part, reaffirmed the enduring principled stance of the Iraqi people and government in supporting the people of Palestine and Lebanon against occupation and aggression. Rashid stressed that, under the current circumstances, Islamic countries must enhance their synergy to deter the occupiers from continuing their genocide and warmongering.   He also expressed his gratitude for the diplomatic and responsible initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran to mobilize the capacities of regional countries and competent regional and international organizations to confront the threats posed by the Zionist regime to regional peace and security.
