Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has met with Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri as he continued his visit to the Arab country.
In the meeting, Amirabdollahian and Berri discussed the political developments in Lebanon and also the latest developments in Gaza.
The Iranian foreign minister thanked the Lebanese parliament speaker for his steady supporting role for the resistance and reaffirmed Iran's backing for current efforts in the political process of Lebanon.
Amirabdollahian said given the important place of Lebanon in the region, the country's stability and security is a top priority for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and that Tehran supports stability and security in Lebanon.
On the developments in Palestine, Amirabdollahian said Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was a purely Palestinian action as well as a natural reaction to relentless extremism on part of the Zionist regime.
He described as unacceptable, the US's and Europe's support for the current crimes by the Zionist regime while they themselves admit to Netanyahu's extremist moves and provocative acts.
The Iranian foreign minister went on to say that inviting others to exercise restraint on the one hand, and at the same time, giving full support to the usurping Israeli regime so that it continues to commit war crimes on the other hand, are at odds with each other.
He said this attitude contradicts their claim that they oppose the expansion of the war.
The Iranian foreign minister noted that stopping the Zionist regime's war crimes against Gaza is the first and urgent priority, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran proposed to hold an extraordinary meeting of the foreign ministers of Islamic countries for this purpose, and while pursuing this idea, it supports the initiatives of Muslim countries.
In the meeting, Mr. Nabih Berri also pointed to the latest state of political developments in Lebanon and thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its efforts and political initiatives in support of Palestine and the people of Gaza.
Berri said what is happening in Gaza defies belief and that the Zionist regime is committing brutal killings against children, women, the elderly and all citizens, as well as public and medical infrastructure and mosques in Gaza. Berri called for an end to the Israeli attacks.
The Lebanese parliament speaker stressed that all countries and all Muslim nations have a duty to support Palestine.
