After a prisoner swap between Iran and the United States, brokered by Qatar and Oman and under the constructive and valuable participation of both countries, the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Sultan of Oman’s special representative held separate meetings with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting (UNGA) in New York during which the high-ranking diplomats discussed the latest developments on the agreement as well as other issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Bagheri expressed gratitude to Qatar and Oman for their hard work to make the prisoner exchange happen and said the efforts by both countries to help free Iran’s financial resources in South Korea were constructive.
In the meetings, they also exchanged views on the latest developments pertaining the bilateral ties and the continuation of multilateral initiatives.
Bagheri also appreciated the Sultan of Oman and the Emir of Qatar for their special attention to bilateral and multilateral issues
