Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani have, in a meeting, exchanged views about bilateral ties and regional issues.
In the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister thanked the top Qatari diplomat for his efforts to expand ties between Tehran and Doha in different fields. Amirabdollahian said visits by the high-ranking officials of the two countries to Doha and Tehran are meant to pursue different issues concerning their bilateral relations. He also underscored the necessity of following up on the agreements between Iran and Qatar for their implementation.
In further comments, Amirabdollahian spoke about the significance of easing economic activity by businesspeople and trade exchanges between the two countries. He then pointed to some obstacles in different areas such as issuance of visas and residence permits for businesspeople as well as some problems in the commercial transportation sector, calling for the removal of those obstacles.
The Iranian foreign minister also thanked the Qatari government for their good hospitality and their constructive efforts in hosting the recent sanctions removal talks as well as for solving some problems pertaining to the presence of Iran in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Amirabdollahian also underlined the importance of expanding cooperation among regional countries for the purpose of creating stability and security.
Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, who is also Qatar’s deputy prime minister, for his part extended the greetings of Qatar’s emir to Iran’s president and stressed the necessity of pursuing the agreements reached and the documents signed during the visits of the two countries’ high-ranking officials. Al Thani also called for the foreign ministries of Iran and Qatar to make an effort to put the agreements and documents into practice.
