Foreign ministry spokesman expounds on the latest situation of interaction between Iran and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation
In response to a question about the latest situation of interaction between Iran and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh extended the Islamic Republic’s congratulations to the OIC’s new Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha on starting his tenure.
In response to a question about the latest situation of interaction between Iran and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh extended the Islamic Republic’s congratulations to the OIC’s new Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha on starting his tenure. Khatibzadeh said Iran wishes Ibrahim Taha success in his post.Khatibzadeh added that the new OIC secretary general has expressed readiness to bolster cooperation with Tehran in separate messages to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Khatibzadeh said, “Given that the OIC has huge possibilities to realize the Islamic ummah’s unity and Islam’s lofty and pure values and principles, we hope that during the new secretary general’s tenure, we will witness a considerable increase in these efforts and their tangible fruitfulness in realizing the common interests of the Muslim ummah and the body’s member states in the arena of international interactions”. Khatibazdeh added that Iran appreciates the efforts of former OIC chief Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen to boost and strengthen unity and solidarity among members. He also said the Islamic Republic is completely ready to cooperate with the new secretary general closely and in a brotherly manner and based on the principle of guaranteeing equal opportunities for the full and free activity and participation of all members in line with the organization’s charter. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman added that with regard to the Palestinian issue and countering the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression and confiscation of the properties and belongings of Palestinians, it is necessary that the capacities of the OIC be used to confront the heinous current known as “normalization” and to isolate the Zionist regime through bolstering unity and solidarity among member nations of the OIC more than ever before.
