Wojciech Zajączkowski, Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister, who is visiting Tehran to participate in the third round of political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Poland, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday afternoon.

Referring to the positive historical ties between the Iranian and Polish peoples, as well as the discussions held with his Polish counterpart on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Araghchi stressed the importance of planning to make use of the existing capacities in both countries to strengthen bilateral engagement in various fields in pursuit of mutual interests.

Outlining Iran’s positions on developments in West Asia, Araghchi said the insecurity in the region and the Strait of Hormuz stemmed from the aggressive actions of the United States and the Israeli regime. Criticizing the complicity or inaction of some European countries in the face of the blatant military aggression against Iran, he stressed the need for all countries, including European states, to adopt a principled position by condemning the military aggression against Iran and the crimes committed during it.

The foreign minister also emphasized that, just as Iran had remained steadfast in using diplomatic tools to ensure peace and security in the region, it would not hesitate to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity against any threat or act of aggression.

The Polish deputy foreign minister expressed his pleasure at visiting Iran, presented a report on his talks with his Iranian counterpart, and outlined his country’s positions on regional and international developments.
