Iran Nicaragua FMs meet on sidelines of UN General Assembly

Seyed Abbas Araghchi Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Waldräg Ludwig Yaintske Whitaker Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua met on Saturday evening on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Waldräg Ludwig Yaintske Whitaker, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua, met on Saturday evening on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Iranian foreign minister expressed appreciation for Nicaragua’s responsible approach to international developments, particularly its condemnation of the US-Zionist military aggression against Iran, as well as its continued opposition to occupation and genocide in the occupied Palestinian territories. He stressed the solidarity of the Iranian people with Nicaragua in the face of US illegal policies and interventions.

Araghchi also outlined the war crimes committed by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran and the continuation of unjust sanctions, stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will undoubtedly stand with all its strength against the excessive demands and bullying of the United States and the Israeli regime.

The Nicaraguan foreign minister praised the Islamic Republic of Iran’s steadfastness and resistance in the face of the US and Israeli military aggression, and recalled the responsibility of the international community to counter US unilateralism and lawlessness in different parts of the world, including Latin America.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers of Iran and Nicaragua reviewed bilateral relations and stressed the two countries’ commitment to strengthening ties in all areas of mutual interest.
