Iranian Foreign Ministry statement on US military aggression against Lark Island and Iran’s defensive response
The US terrorist army once again violated the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday evening August 30 2026 by attacking parts of Lark Island resulting in the martyrdom and injury of several valiant defenders of the homeland and dear Iranian compatriots as well as damage to public and private property.

In response to this military aggression and in accordance with its inherent right of self-defense, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out forceful and devastating defensive strikes against US military bases located in Jordan, which served as the launchpad for and provided support to the US military aggression against Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the US military aggression against Lark Island, which constitutes an explicit violation of Article 2(4) of the Charter of the United Nations, and reminds the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General personally of their responsibility to fulfill their duties to safeguard international peace and security and hold the aggressor accountable.
The Islamic Republic of Iran reminds the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council, and all governments that have expressed their concern over the continued insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz that the sole factor responsible for making the region’s shipping routes unsafe has been the illegal and aggressive actions of the United States and the Israeli regime. These actions began with the attack on Iran on February 28 and have continued in various forms over the past six months, including a naval blockade and other provocative and interventionist measures.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to exercise their inherent right of self-defense and will decisively respond, as appropriate, to any military aggression by the enemy.
It is self-evident that full responsibility for the consequences of the United States’ new acts of aggression, as well as the continuation of the naval blockade and economic war against Iran, rests with the US regime and all parties that, in any way, collude or participate in the preparation and implementation of the United States’ illegal and unlawful actions.
